"Nine lakh meals" is a big number, and big numbers are easy to skim past. What makes Terminate Hunger unusual is how specific its work is: named places, fixed times, every day. Here is what the organisation says it runs, based on its own published figures.

Mornings at government hospitals

Terminate Hunger serves a free breakfast every day at government hospitals in Hyderabad, including the Charminar Unani Government Hospital, where it lists more than 1,120 days of breakfast service. It also names the Modern Government Maternity Hospital and the Government ENT Hospital among the places it serves.

A daily dinner

Separately, it runs a daily free dinner, with 950+ consecutive days of service and 200+ meals a day.

Ramadan at Mecca Masjid

Beyond food

The organisation's published programmes go well past meals:

  • 300+ free water projects across 9 states, with 24x7 access
  • support for old age homes, and meals for Quran centres and orphanages
  • blood donation camps for cancer and thalassemia patients
  • medical and health camps in slum communities
  • ration distribution for widows and families in need
  • food drives at Burma refugee camps, and disaster relief

How it is run

Terminate Hunger describes itself as volunteer-based, with 200+ volunteer family members, and funded by donations. It works alongside other organisations, naming Fatima Old Age Home, Feeding Humanity and WeForYou among its partners, and is registered for 12A and 80G tax exemption.

Why the detail matters

Anyone can claim to "fight hunger". Publishing where you serve, and for how many consecutive days, is a way of being held to it. It is also what Imad Ali keeps returning to in conversation: the work only counts if it happens again tomorrow.
